Prepare the Craft Band of any width
Name | Length | Pieces | Width | Color | |
1 | Horizontal strip | 700cm | 1 | 12 | A |
2 | Vertical strip | 700cm | 1 | 12 | B |
Procedure
- Straighten the Horizontal Strip and the Vertical Strip if coiled. Find the center of both strips by folding in half. Hang the center of the Vertical Strip over the center of the Horizontal strip as shown. The 4 ends have been marked A, B, C, and D in the picture.
- Take Strip B and fold upward behind Strip C, creating a loop.
3. Fold Strip C behind Strip B.
- Fold Strip C to the front, over Strip A, and pass through the loop made in Step 2.
- Gradually tighten all of the ends. You've just completed a square knot!
-
Turn the knot over.
-
Fold Strip A upward, between Strips B and C, leaving space to create a small loop.
-
Fold Strip C upward to the right, between Strips B and C.
-
Fold Strip B downward to the right, between Strips A and D.
-
Fold Strip D downward to the left, and pass through the loop formed by Strip A.
-
Gradually tighten all of the ends.
-
Fold Strip B upward to the left, between Strips A and D. Be sure to leave space to create a small loop.
-
Fold Strip D upward to the right, between Strips A and C.
-
Fold Strip A downward to the right, between Strips B and C.
- Fold Strip C downward, through the loop created by Strip B.
-
Gradually tighten all of the ends.
-
Continue to repeat this method. Note that the woven portion will have a gradual twist, creating a lovely effect.
-
Weave until the shortest strip has about 6 inches left. The gaps in between are determined by how tightly it is woven. The tighter the weave, the smaller the gap.
-
To close the wreath, bring the ends together. Take one strip and insert into the loop that matches up to it on the closed end. This strip should be inserted from the bottom and pulled upward.
- Close up of how the strip is inserted.
-
Using the strip facing upward in the photo, insert into the loop from the top and pull the strip downward.
-
Using the strip marked by an arrow in the photo, insert into the loop from the top and pull through.
-
Take the last strip and insert into the loop from the bottom and pull through.
-
Trim the excess strips, leaving the strip from Step 23 intact. This will form the hanging loop for your wreath.
-
Tuck the end back into the wreath and secure with glue.
-
Personalize your wreath by adding any seashells or bows or anything you like!
The wreath is complete!
